Arguments absolving truck drivers of blame for “blind spots” are idiotic (if it’s in a driving situation – exception inner city turns with bikers). It’s not as if a driver just miraculously teleports into it or stays there right from the start. There are moments where they aren’t in the blind spot and truckers have to know their surrounding and who’s around them, and should wonder where a vehicle went if suddenly one is missing their view. I hate this “but it’s a truck it has massive blind spots” victim shaming thing, it’s stupid. Professionals should pay more attention anyways, and they *know* about these spots (and can have special mirrors even).
Iiiiiii think that isn’t a blind spot for the big wide angle mirrors that are on the side of large trucks. He probably COULD have seen it, just DIDN’T.
Edit: I’ve been corrected! I’m genuinely surprised
Edit 2: Yeah I’m again of the opinion that truck driver is fully at fault, you should always be aware of vehicles around you, and even if he couldn’t see the car at the moment of merging lanes, he should have seen it before it entered his blind spot, it didn’t just magically appear there.
This.
Is why I never stay next to a semi. I always accelerate to get in front of them as soon as possible.
Also with other cars
I dont care who’s at fault. People are stupid, thus drivers are too and truckers are not excempt of that.
I simply do not trust humans who most of the time think they are invulnerable because they reside in a metall cage on wheels.
Trucks fault but not blatant idiocy in my opinion.
The car did not have much room to go, however as a general rule you want to make yourself visible. Move faster, get in front or create distance in some other way. Every other car on the road is something to avoid however much possible within reasonable limits.
By the time you check all 6 mirrors you would have to start all over again, would never be able to entirely eliminate the chance of a car in that spot as well the truck is left hand drive
The side mirror above the door is mainly for kerbs and cyclists that put themselves right beside the unit, the front mirror on a Volvo is not great as you cannot see the front corner of the unit very well and is probably useless because of the rain water sitting on the mirror.
So many people here that clearly have never driven a truck.
While the truck driver is at fault, cruising next to a truck, is always an irresponsible, potentially dangerous move as a car.
When passing trucks, it should be done as quickly as possible. It is possible this car was in that blind spot for an extended period of time, which is just plain dangerous, even more so imperfect weather conditions shown here.
Yeah truck didn’t see him, it happens. Trucks fault but you are an asshole for getting passed by a semi while you are in the left lane. You are just a bitch. That accident wouldn’t have happened if you’d actually drive your car.

Pitt maneuver, cleanly done, no mistakes.
It’s quite strange that they don’t star using cameras for blind spots. What year is it

I wouldn’t say idiot but a poor bastard indeed.

This could have been a lot worse. Scary.
I’m gonna do some victim blaming here, and say that’s what you get when you decide to camp in a blind spot.
Nice PIT

*Drive a identical vehicle for my job*

As someone that drives a vw golf this my worst fear.

Trucks should stay out of the fast lane.
Change my mind.
Perfect pit manoeuvre execution
That honestly ended up pretty good for the victim in the crash. Could have been A LOT worse
Are you driving slow in the passing lane so that everyone has to pass you?
That was a perfectly executed PIT maneuver. Maybe the boys called this in an asked for assistance.
